Sweet potatoes have been grown throughout Dixie since before America was born. Several tribes of Indians were growing and eating them when Christopher Columbus arrived.
Hundreds of years later, we current Southerners love sweet potatoes and there are so many ways to cook them.
With a mild flavor and a delicious sweetness, sweet potatoes are simply hard to resist.
Many of our customers have requested that we serve sweet potatoes and we plan to cook up sweet potato casserole. However, Dixie Kwik is now serving a unique sweet potato dish that most people haven’t heard of and many ask, “What is that?”
What is it? Well, it’s our Sweet Potato Dumpling. Say that with me. Sweet Potato Dumpling. What is a sweet potato dumpling? Simple. It’s a portion of sweet potato cooked in a biscuit dough. That’s it. Nothing fancy. Just sweet potato in a biscuit crusted pocket. (See photo)
The response has been simply amazing. The Sweet Potato Dumpling is sweet delight. It fits right in our motto: Food to Remember. You’ll definitely remember it once you taste it.
As of this writing, we have only sold them the past two days and we have sold out both days. I promise that we will try to have plenty cooked and ready so you won’t miss out when you come to get it.
We always have them on our Sunday menu. And be sure to tell Momma ’cause she’s gonna want a few for herself! In fact, buy a pan of eight for only $9.95.
